Sir Paul McCartney Adds Dr To His Title

Sir Paul McCartney has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University in the US, adding yet another honor to the ex-Beatle’s ever-growing list of awards and accolades – including the knighthood he received in 1996. In granting the honorary degree to McCartney, 65, the university said no one compared with the legendary songwriter, who had awakened a generation with The Beatle’s fresh approach to rock and roll. Yale University president Richard Levin evoked some of the songwriter's most memorable lines as McCartney walked on stage, while a band played The Beatles' hit ‘Hey Jude’. "Here, there and everywhere," Levin said, quoting a line from a Beatles song, "you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics. We admire your musical genius and your generous support of worthy causes".Photo courtesy of Hear Music.
