Created in 1999 with the sole purpose of providing the soundtrack to Armageddon, Anaal Nathrakh is actually a side externalise for Englishmen V.I.T.R.I.O.L. (aka Dave Hunt, singer with Benediction and Mistress) and Irrumator (aka multi-instrumentalist Mick Kenney, of Aborym, Frost, Mistress, and owner of Necrodeath Studios). Taking their founding cues from Norwegian bleak metallic element leviathans such as Mayhem, Burzum, and Darkthrone, the duet recorded deuce demos before delivering their first wide album, The Codex Necro, in 2001. Judging from the by and large positive reviews, the wait was charles VII Frederick Worth it, and subsequent efforts When Fire Rains Down from the Sky, Mankind Will Reap As It has Sown (a 2003 EP) and Dominus Non Es Dignus (2004) take advanced Anaal Nathrakh into ever more technical and various -- merely always cruel and nihilistic -- bootleg metallic element realms, and get yet to let down.

The Zutons - The Zutons Wont Cover Amy Winehouse

THE ZUTONS singer Dave McCabe has dismissed suggestions that the band should cover an Amy Winehouse song, after she had a huge hit with her version of Valerie.

While McCabe admits to being a fan of the beehived singer, he maintains that his band will not be looking to record any of her material anytime soon, reports Showbiz Spy

Speaking to Gigwise, he said: "No, not at all. We wouldn't do it. It would be like a weird version of her songs. I think she's done ours good."

The band's saxophonist Abi Harding agreed with McCabe, saying that the Back to Black star does not need them to cover her songs.

Winehouse's recording of Valerie, a collaboration with producer Mark Ronson, was a major hit last year.

In related news, it has been claimed that Winehouse was unable to attend her husband's court hearing due to ill health, after a doctor was seen at the singer's house in north London.

Towering Inferno At Universal

Universal Studios provided the setting for a remake of The Towering Inferno Sunday as balls of fire and billowing smoke rose hundreds of feet into the sky over the historic studio -- none of it created by special-effects personnel. The blaze destroyed several sets and a warehouse containing about 40,000 videos. Studio officials said that the original negatives and/or duplicates were stored at a different location and that the lost videos could eventually be replaced. The Universal Studios theme park, which was shut down by the fire, was due to reopen today (Monday), but tourists riding the tram through the studio's lot would probably see the charred remains of some historic outdoor sets. A small building through which the tram passes on the studio tour in which King Kong appears to attack the tram, which jiggles and rocks, was also destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sir Paul McCartney Adds Dr To His Title

Sir Paul McCartney has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University in the US, adding yet another honor to the ex-Beatle’s ever-growing list of awards and accolades – including the knighthood he received in 1996. In granting the honorary degree to McCartney, 65, the university said no one compared with the legendary songwriter, who had awakened a generation with The Beatle’s fresh approach to rock and roll. Yale University president Richard Levin evoked some of the songwriter's most memorable lines as McCartney walked on stage, while a band played The Beatles' hit ‘Hey Jude’. "Here, there and everywhere," Levin said, quoting a line from a Beatles song, "you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics. We admire your musical genius and your generous support of worthy causes".Photo courtesy of Hear Music.
